Sara knew that David was the one on their second date. The date which happened about five years after they had first met. Work had taken them to different states and then back again to Chicago in 2015, where they reconnected. Sara remembers running a bit late to the date, but David was so excited to see her she couldn’t help but smile. Three years later, David proposed by giving Sara his grandmothers ring in their apartment, surrounded by flowers. He told her how his grandparent’s relationship was an example of how strong they could be together. That legacy continued as they planned their wedding day, they included heartfelt details which not only honored their history separately but their new lives together as husband and wife.
The Riverwalk was the perfect location for their First Look and Bridal Party Portraits. The clouds made all of the colors of the city pop and were the perfect backdrop for portraits. Due to the rain, we took advantage of every dry moment for portraits. However, we were not so lucky as we headed to our second portrait location. Thankfully we had plenty of umbrellas and took advantage of the situation for a few memorable photos next to the beach. The Atrium was such a lovely venue for their rainy day ceremony, and Sara looked radiant as she walked down the aisle!
As Sara and David walked back down the aisle, the clouds parted and we were greeted by the most spectacular rooftop sunset. The rooftop on the Atrium is like no other, full of lush greenery and greenhouses. It was such a lovely backdrop for their first dance before we retreated back inside for toasts and dinner. Krista of Weddings with a Twist handled every detail at their reception perfectly. I especially loved the custom cookies they gave guests in honor of their cat, Emma!
Sara and David, thank you so much for choosing me to capture your wedding day and I couldn’t be more excited for you to be husband and wife!
