Why hello there 2013.
I’m not going to lie, you kinda snuck up on me there. 2012 was an extremely big year for our family. Andy and I tied the knot, we moved 100 miles from home to an extremely small (yet amazing) town, we have a brand new house that needs to be decorated, and we welcomed our little Bailey into the world. I was on bedrest for nearly three months, and I restarted my business with a bang after my maternity leave finishing the year with one destination wedding and 20 portrait sessions, while maintaining my full time job. I am so blessed to have such an amazing family and the opportunity to start over here in Vail. So while 2012 was a year of new beginnings, my 2013 goal is to turn this little dream into a reality. Thats right, our goal for 2013 is to make this little dream of ours a full time gig. Its a big, extremely scary goal, so scary in fact that it took me about 3 months to do simple things like set pricing and packages, because my small case of OCD took over and I wanted them to be perfect. I researched, googled my little heart, talked to brides, talked to moms, wrote down all the things as a bride I was looking for and think we are in the perfect place right now with the ability to provide the best service and products to our clients.
The next step in this big goal step out of my comfort zone. I’m not going to lie, unless I’m behind the camera, I am quite shy, I stumble with my words and I quote obscure song lyrics and movies that not many people pick up on. My goal for this year is to be outgoing, to meet new people, to go talk to photographers in my area and find the type of support I had in Phoenix. This is a big step for me, and I’m not going to lie I’m pretty excited. It would be weird to walk around with a camera across my face right? Yes? Shoot….
Finally, I want to continue my photography journey, when studying to be an educator, the biggest thing I took from it was the constant yearning for information and knowledge. Photography and all art is the same way, I am never fully satisfied with my work and am always evolving. This year I would love to shoot a courthouse wedding, or a surprise engagement, or somewhere I have never been before. Keep chasing challenges, your art (and brain) will thank you for it.
So 2013, you are the official year of setting big goals. Don’t let me down.
Here is a picture from Chelsey and Brent’s super chill wedding at the Mandalay Bay in Vegas! They will be featured on the blog on Monday! They are so gorgeous and in love!
What are your goals for this year?
