The First Look: Why It’s Worth It

For Couples

February 27, 2017

I’m not going to lie, I love me some first looks. Hear me out. Wedding days go so incredibly fast, the more moments of just the two of you I can give you to be alone is my mission every wedding. Those moments when you can take a deep breath and just absorb the moment. Before I go on, I am 100% supportive of the traditional not seeing each other until the ceremony as well. If you are on the fence on whether or not to do the first look – this blog post is for you! I’m going to share three things you GET by doing a first look.

1.) You Get More Time – Doing a first look opens up the timeline so much. You can opt to do a small first look right before the ceremony, or do it hours before so you can hit more locations for photos. It allows you to go right to cocktail hour with your guests because photos are done!

2.) You Get to Enjoy the Surprise – When he sees you walking down the aisle, he may have a great reaction, but you don’t even get to hug for sometimes an hour after that moment! The first look is a great way to get all those reactions out without 200 people looking at you. You get a genuine moment for just the two of you that can last as long as you want!

3.) You Get Rid of Nerves – Weddings can be SO nerve wracking. Sometimes just seeing your person allows you to release all those jitters and just enjoy the day. The last thing I want you to remember from your day is how nervous you were to react a certain way in front of your guests as you walk down the aisle. Those reactions are still genuine, but the pressure is off.

Hopefully, this blog post helped you a bit in your decision. Traditional first looks are still magical, but if you think you might want to calm those nerves beforehand the first look is such a perfect solution. Leaving you on this Monday with Sarah & Joeys’s adorable first look at the State Capitol in Madison!
