It’s about 4 months into our Covid quarantine and we are hitting a pretty good groove!
I won’t lie, I’m very anxious about school, and virtual school was not a really good fit for us. We had a lot of stress and a lot of tears and I have a degree in education – I can’t even imagine what other families experienced. I know our teachers did an amazing job building a nonexistent VL platform and executing it.
Quarantine has been…weird. I mean, this is not something I EVER expected to happen in my life, and while my weird anxiety about pandemics came in handy, it’s still been hard. I hope you are your family are all safe and making it work, but I wanted to highlight a few fun out of the box things we have done to make things feel more “normal”.
We did a DIY Ballet Recital – Our dance company actually did an amazing job with a virtual recital, but we also had a mini ballet front yard recital with a few other families. Everyone social distanced, we played the music, and the girls did their dances in the driveway. The girls had a blast and memories were definitely made.
We Made the Backyard the #1 Vacation Spot This Summer – We have big plans to renovate our backyard in the next few years, but for now, we settled for a Minnidip and some string lights. I also grabbed some beautiful baby plants in May from a local company called Aromatic Acres . I did not have my stuff together to get fancy with some garden boxes this year because of virtual school, but we have some great planters on our patio and it’s mid July and they are blooming! I usually go with hydrangeas or roses for the yard, but having a rainbow of color has been really really great.
We partied! Guys I’m not going to lie, I’m here for these quiet birthday parties. Low stress, no cleaning the house beforehand. M wanted brownies and I had the idea to DIY cake toppers from each year since she turned the big 1-2!
Happy Summer! What has your family been doing to make things “normal” during quarantine?
